About
Hi! I’m Richard…
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated with all things automotive. I had the useless skill of being able to recognise pretty much any car from a couple of hundred yards away at night on the motorway, just by the design of its tail lights. I’d retain the most irrelevant details about the dullest everyday cars, whilst never quite being able to memorise my times tables (much to my dad’s frustration!). I also had a camera from a pretty young age (encouraged by my granddad), and remember being quietly obsessed with the branding on Kodak’s film packaging.
Over the years, I moved on to shooting with digital, working up to a full-frame DSLR and professional-level lenses shortly after leaving uni (though photography remained a hobby). As is always the way, life started to get in the way… until a few years ago, after selling off most of my digital gear, I picked up a film camera again, and something clicked (no pun intended).
Pretty quickly, I combined the two things I enjoyed, and here we find ourselves. Some would undoubtedly say that by working the way I do, I’m making life unnecessarily difficult for myself, but somehow it just works - I’ll spare you the clichés about it making me slow down (though that’s very true!). Wandering around a noisy paddock with an old camera round my neck is definitely my happy place, and I hope to be able to share a bit of that joy with you!
